What is it like living in South Africa?
                  Anonymous

Big question! It is different for every person here, so I can only answer for myself.
For me it’s both incredible and frustrating. I have been fortunate to live in Europe so I have seen the “greener grass” but I tell you what, there is no amount of “first world comfort” that compares to living here.
I live in a city. I drive on freeways everyday. I sit in coffee shops and do arb shit with my friends like troll the shops and go to gigs, the same as any person but there is an incredible cultural thread that runs through each person here. I know we are projected to the world as this crime riddled, backwards place but South Africa is one of the most vibrant countries you will ever get to visit. Culture oozes from each pore of the city and rural areas. South Africans are generally really laid back and friendly but for the most part we all interact with one another with a sense of informality because I like to believe that’s how we see one another (whether we realise it or not)- as closer than strangers.

Of course we have crime, what country doesnt. We all suffer from frustrations and expectations not being met. All of us want live in a safer place and have access to things which would enhance our lives. There is something truly godly about the African continent. There is something that changes in you when you get to experience nature the way God intended. I remember when I moved back to SA from Germany, as I was flying into my hometown it was dusk. I had tears in my eyes as I saw the red and pink sunset because coming here is to connect to a part of yourself, you never realised you had. I had no idea of “how much” of an African I was until I came home from Germany, and I mean half of my family is German but I was raised as an African.

South Africa is a country of stark contrasts. Rich and poor. Urban and rural. Kind and intolerant. Black, White, Asian and Coloured. Despite all of that, it’s a place which each South African is proud to call home and that pride is what it is to be South African and to live in this incredible place.

DUDE!!! I don’t even know if there is any point in telling you about how amazing this party was AFTER THE FACT, but it was AMAZING!!!

Adidas Originals and Area 53 threw down a buck and jungle block party in Kruger Street in the Maboneng Precinct; the one I told you about a few weeks ago.  Perfect Summer night dancing with my girls to perfect summer music.

The exhibition will be on til the 4th April so go check it out. If you missed it, for your and my sake, I REALLY hope they throw another one!!

Things I don't want to talk about today because they will depress me even more than they already do:
                      1. Rape and the siege that woman and girls are under in South Africa - as my friend Simiso says, it’s more of a state of emergency actually.
                      2. The poor Mozambican Man who got dragged by the Police behind their car for 400 metres. That video made me sick. We are disgusting.
                      3. The Time Magazine Oscar Pistorius Cover.

                      *sigh*
